Message from the President
In the wrong order I must congratulate Thorpy on his maiden umpiring performance last Saturday against the Dunsborough Ducks. Thanks to him I got to play alongside an absolute legend of a bloke  & player , Rick “Bomber” Spaull. When Whitey said to me “where do you want to play” while showing me the board & pointing to the forward pocket, I saw Bombers name on one wing  & the other was vacant. That was it for me, being able to play the wing in Bombers 150th game with him was all that I could ask for! It felt just like the early 2000’s except the only thing  was that Bomber  was still the same if not better, getting plenty of the ball & in all the action while for me I think I was just a little bit out of touch!
Congratulations & well done Rick! We all know that if they recorded all the games you’ve played for other teams at every carnival you have attended then you would be right up there with Patch Adams from Busselton. You now join Ross Piggott & Ross Williams in becoming only the 3rd Shark to reach 150 games, what a terrific effort!
Let’s not forget Des Scott who will become the 4th Shark to reach his 150th game when he suits up in a couple of game’s time.
Thanks also to Danny, Vosy & Terry (Izzy) for playing for the Ducks on Sunday. All three would have been in the Ducks best players. Anybody who plays for the opposition team deserves a big pat on the back, without you guys filling in to make up the numbers, there wouldn’t be a game.
The next game at this stage is on Sat 24th July against Collie at Hands Oval. Hopefully they have a side, either way we will have a game. The day will also be a ladies day, this is for your wife/partner so please bring her & the kids along & help make it a good day for all those that go.  It’s a good chance for them to meet everyone & realise that we are not just a boys club. The club will put on nibblies & drinks for the ladies & meals will be available at South’s club  rooms after the game.
We are coming into a busy time of the year, with the following dates locked in:
Elgin Bush Bash- 17/7/10
Collie Game ( Ladies Day)- 24/7/10
Darkin Carnival- 31/7/10
Albany Game -6,7,8/8/10
Perth Carnival-21/8/10
Ross Piggott Medal Night 28/8/10
Some of the blokes are making the Albany game a chance for a family trip, ( myself included) which will make it a top weekend I’m sure for all those who decide to go. It’s a fantastic opportunity for your partners & kids to mix in with everyone so I hope we see a few numbers down there.
Please spare a thought for all those who organize our events, a lot of hard work is involved  & the more support they get from players the easier their job will be. If you can help out, don’t hesitate  to offer!
So let’s get to the Elgin Hall on 17/7/10!! This has the makings of another legendary Sharks event & if you have seen the latest photos on our website you will see that our shows are anything but boring!!
That’s all for now,
See you on the track,
Wishy
President.
P.S Thanks Crawfs  for all the txt messages sent out chasing somebody to umpire so that I could play.  Cheers to those who offered to do a quarter or a half.
